On November 8-9, the Head of NGO “Geothermal Ukraine” Taras Popadynets attended the European Geothermal Workshop 2023 (EGW), held at Utrecht University, the Netherlands (https://egw2023.sites.uu.nl/).
During the EGW, new approaches, challengies and solutions were discussed in the field of exploration and production of deep and shallow geothermal energy resources, the application of innovative technologies of AI and machine learning for the digital twins, CCUS,as well as geothermal energy storage while the harvesting of geothermal energy resources.
In particular, the latest results of ongoing research and the results achieved in national and international research and demonstration projects, including those funded by the EU, were presented. During the poster session, the geothermal potential of Ukraine and opportunities for implementing these projects were presented.
