The project is funded under the Prosperous Future – 4th Round of the Application Programme for Civil Society Cooperation in the Region and brings together partners from Norway, Poland, and Ukraine to advance geothermal energy, strengthen energy resilience, and foster long-term international cooperation.
Project partners:
NORCE Research AS (through its membership in the Geothermal Energy Association of Norway – GEAN) – Project Coordinator;
Polish Geothermal Society (PGS);
NGO Geothermal Ukraine.
About the project
GEO-RESILIENCE is an international capacity-building and knowledge exchange initiative designed to strengthen expertise in geothermal energy and support the sustainable energy transition across the Nordic-Baltic-Ukraine region.
The project focuses on empowering civil society organizations, local authorities, academic institutions, and other stakeholders with the knowledge and skills needed to develop and implement reliable and sustainable geothermal energy solutions.
Over the course of the project, partners will:
🔹 facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices in geothermal energy among Norway, Poland, and Ukraine;
🔹 deliver training and capacity-building activities for key stakeholders;
🔹 establish a long-term international platform for collaboration, professional learning, and the development of joint initiatives.
Expected outcomes
Strengthened technical and institutional capacity in the geothermal energy sector.
Enhanced knowledge exchange and practical cooperation among project partners.
Stronger and more sustainable partnerships between organizations in Norway, Poland, and Ukraine.
Increased support for geothermal energy as a key contributor to energy security and Ukraine's sustainable recovery.
We are excited to begin this collaborative journey with our international partners. Over the coming months, the project will deliver research, training activities, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that will contribute to the wider deployment of geothermal energy and strengthen energy resilience across the Nordic-Baltic-Ukraine region.
Together, we are building a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
