7th Global Geothermal Energy Summit

05/2025

Great opportunity to participate in the 7th Global Geothermal Energy Summit 2025, held on May 14–15 in Warsaw!

We were pleased to contribute to the conversation with our presentation: “Harnessing Geothermal Energy: Direct Use Applications in the Western Part of Ukraine”, covering:

Ukraine’s current energy landscape and role of geothermal
Overview of geothermal resources and hotspots
Direct-use case studies from western Ukraine
Policy directions and pathways for geothermal development

Geothermal Ukraine, represented by Yuliia Demchuk, highlighted three key projects:

Preliminary Feasibility Study of the Direct Use of Geothermal Energy – now completed, this study explored four use cases:
• Heat and power generation in Mostyska (Lviv region)
• Spa center in Bryukhovychi (Lviv region)
• Industrial use (wood drying and pasteurization) in Transcarpathia
• Greenhouse heating in Dolyna (Ivano-Frankivsk region)
Study on Geothermal Energy for Greenhouse Development in Lviv Region – an ongoing project to assess geothermal potential for agriculture, with a pilot in the Busk area.
GEOSYN Horizon Europe project (ID: 101172812) aims to develop an innovative high-temperature heat pump combined with a heat-powered refrigeration cycle using water as a natural refrigerant, unlocking new opportunities for efficient and cascading geothermal energy use.

The event brought together leading voices in the geothermal sector — including representatives from ETIP-Geothermal, EGEC Geothermal, Baseload Capital, International Energy Agency (IEA), Państwowy Instytut Geologiczny - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy, OMV, GeoEnergEX, Exceed Geo Energy, Turboden S.p.A., Fervo Energy, Eavor Technologies Inc., Clean Air Task Force, and many others — to exchange insights and discuss actions needed to scale up geothermal development globally.

We are honored to be part of this dynamic community, to present our progress, and to contribute to advancing geothermal energy development in Ukraine.
