Yuliia Demchuk, representing Geothermal Ukraine, was selected to participate in the Young Entrepreneurs Business-Educational Programme, supported by the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (NUCC) and held from 9 to 14 August 2026 in Oslo and Bergen, Norway.
The programme is implemented under the overarching theme “Build Back Better”, providing an opportunity to present Ukraine’s geothermal energy sector, raise awareness of its potential, and increase the visibility of the GEOSYN project among Norwegian research, business and industry stakeholders.
The visit aimed to strengthen professional cooperation between Ukrainian and Norwegian stakeholders in the fields of research, innovation, industry, entrepreneurship and sustainable energy development.
A key part of the programme was the opportunity to further develop cooperation with SINTEF, one of Norway’s leading research organisations, where SINTEF branches are already involved in the GEOSYN project. Discussions focused on knowledge exchange, potential areas for future cooperation and strengthening links between research activities and the practical application of innovative energy technologies.
The programme also included meetings and networking with representatives of Norwegian industry and business, including Bergen Engines. These discussions provided an opportunity to explore potential cooperation with Bergen Engines and other Norwegian industrial companies, with the support of NUCC, including their potential involvement in the GEOSYN Industry Engagement Café and other activities connecting geothermal solutions with industrial energy needs.
The visit also provided an opportunity to develop new professional partnerships and strengthen contacts within Norway’s innovation ecosystem, including StartupLab, as well as to engage with financial and business-support institutions such as Innovation Norway and Norad. These interactions contributed to a better understanding of available support mechanisms and potential opportunities for future Ukraine–Norway cooperation in the energy, innovation and entrepreneurship sectors.
Beyond project dissemination, an important focus of the visit was raising awareness of geothermal energy and its potential contribution to Ukraine’s green recovery, energy resilience and sustainable reconstruction. The programme also supported the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship and professional participation, contributing to the broader objectives of the GEOSYN project.
Overall, the working visit contributed to strengthening the Ukraine–Norway professional network, identifying potential partners and opportunities for future collaboration, and increasing the visibility of both geothermal energy and the GEOSYN project among Norwegian research, industry, business and other relevant stakeholders.
The visit demonstrated the importance of international cooperation in building knowledge, partnerships and practical opportunities for the deployment of innovative energy solutions in Ukraine.
